Welcome to this practical series for learning about The Jyoti Method. If you have experienced a session before then you are well aware of it’s ability to heal and to align. Jyoti, is a very unique and contemporary hybrid method, but it's largely based on a core concept of Tantric Buddhism - that our true nature is peace and bliss. Our true nature can be buried under trauma and body armouring, or negative mental and emotional patterns. These can be accumulated via our own life experiences and even our ancestors and collective experiences, but our radiant and true nature is there waiting to shine through like a gem - when given the right conditions. Though I do often refer to "energy centres" and "divine source" and so on, one does not have to be of a specific faith to practice or study Jyoti. When approaches correctly it simply deepens your own personal connection to your own faith.
Your main instructor is simply a guide to help you connect within yourself and to your higher power and true nature. Just a physician is not the one that heals a cut, they simply support the right conditions for that healing to occur. So too does a Jyoti practitioner simply help themselves and others align with the natural intention and ability of nature to heal us on many levels. In fact, it is extremely unlikely that you can help others with Jyoti if you are not practicing it yourself. If you look at a plant you an see that it naturally grows towards the light, we are like that too - especially once we identify and remove the obstacles to our natural flow or process of awakening.
Jyoti is an entheogenic practice, meaning that it allows us to come closer to our divine origin without the use of a mind altering drug. It's core pillars include our accessing of states of being such as love, letting go, compassion, gratitude and making peace. These are a few more common examples of key healing states. When we create the right sanctuary, and follow certain simple steps, Jyoti helps us to heal and dissolve the blockages to realizing the potential of being human. To do this we apply a specific series of guided imagery and cues used in a certain sequence and at a precise time.
We also embrace the time honoured use of plants such as holy basil, rose, and many others. Plants, and specifically sacred natural scents have been a part of ceremony and healing since the dawn of humanity. We also apply the use of breath, music, and certain toning for those who are able to do that. Jyoti is usually done while sitting with your spine aligned and in a comfortable chair. However, it can be done lying down if necessary. It is done clothed and requires no physical touch from anyone and you do not have to be in person to experience a session.
The name "Jyoti" means inner radiance, and comes from the name of the radiant young daughter of Shiva in the lore of India. Interestingly, there are many deep symbolic connections between India and its main language of Sanskrit and the language of Gaelic. This lends to the possibility that India is a hotbed of ancient wisdom for many ancient cultures across certain areas of Europe.
Where did this method originate?
The origin of this method, or path of healing was formed or birthed out of my own necessity, and out of my own experiences. I have studied many methods of healing along side my work as an Integrative Herbalist. The most influential ones have been Qi Gong, Tibetan Buddhist Healing Methods, a Psychotherapeutic process called Focussing, and deeply working with entheogenic plant traditions out of Peru. That said, when you look at many of the core pillars of this method, it can be seen that these same pillars are found in many traditions of healing, spirituality, and self realization around the world in different ways. The reason for this is that there are simply time tested ways to align the human being that have been discovered and rediscovered through time - in various cultures and eras. They have been used for so long and so consistently through time because they work.
One of the beautiful aspects of Jyoti is that one does not grow to depend on an outside person, group, or tool of any kind in order to align themselves. It is not expensive nor endangered and you can take it with you wherever you go. Again, the Jyoti method works on the premise that nature is the healer, the teacher is simply a practiced guide or an ambassador to the healing ability of nature to self align when given the right conditions. Though mother nature has many gifts and blessings for us, the true healer and guru lives within.
In our era it is hard for people to embark on or afford the time to go on long retreats, nor are many people leaving there lives to go meditate in caves, monasteries, deserts or forests. Yet we live in a time when masses of our planetary population are living in states of extreme mental and emotional stress and are suffering in states of extreme disconnection and confusion. What is needed at the time is a simple and effective method of self healing and self attainment, and self-attunement, that can be learned and applied to ones life. A method that is accessible, inclusive and affordable for people of all walks and faith.
Finally, to speak of Jyoti is one thing, but to experience it is another. So, excluding the busy summer months of July and August we will be meeting 2 x per month. One time will be to practice the method and another to explore some of the very essential aspects of the core teachings and philosophy that underly this method. If you cannot make it to all the meetings then you can always watch the recordings after.
Once you are subscribed you will find access to the essential teachings page and learn what you need to proceed with the practice and learning, as well as have access to recordings of previous classes, blog and content. Thats all for now, if you have any questions please email:
Love and blessings,
